The guilty of Muzaffarnagar scandal were not punished

It has been 23 years since the Rampur Tiraha (Muzaffarnagar) scandal. Uttarakhand was formed with the sacrifice of martyrs. The BJP and Congress are ruling the state in turn. But the police and administration staff and officers who brutally repressed the agitators have not been punished yet. The state government talks of punishing the culprits who have suppressed the agitators on October 2 every year, but the speed at which these cases are going on in the courts is not expected to get justice soon.

Case: Charges framed in 1 rape case

After filing the charge sheet on behalf of CBI in Muzaffarnagar Court, CBI v. Milap Singh is going on in Section 376 (2G), 354, 392, 120B, 509 of IPC in Special Judge Court. Milap Singh and Virender Pratap are accused.

Sue: 2 November is the date

Charges have been framed against 13 policemen in CBI vs Radha Mohan Dwivedi case. However, the trial was stayed due to the accused getting a stay from the High Court. Now the stay is dismissed. The case is going on in a special CBI court. There have been statements of one witness in it. The next date of hearing in this case is on 1 November 2017.

Litigation: 3 chargesheets not filed

In the CBI vs SP Mishra case, SP Mishra, the then Inspector of Khatauli, is accused of throwing the dead body of Rajesh Negi, a resident of Dehradun, into Gangahar out of the seven people who died in the police firing on Rampur Tirahe. Chargesheet was not filed in this case. The case is scheduled for hearing on October 3, 2017.

Case: 4

CBI vs Brajkishore Singh. In this case, the then police station officer of Kandhla, Brajkishore Singh, is accused that he showed fake arms recovered in search of the agitators. The date of October 3, 2017 in the case is engaged in the Special Magistrate Court.

Trial: Trial ends due to death of 5 accused

The cases have been terminated due to the death of the then in-charge Inspector Moti Singh, the then SHO Rajbir Singh and the accused in another case, accused by the CBI in the Special Magistrate Court.

What happened on October 2, 1994

1. From the night of October 1, 1994 to the morning of October 2, police lathi-charge and bullets were fired on the agitators.
2. Police arrested about 400 Uttarakhandis and sent them to the police line.
3. Seven agitators died in police firing on Gandhi Jayanti in the morning.
4. Police played with the hope of women running in the fields during lathicharge and firing. The CBI confirmed this in the investigation. Two such cases are going on in court.
